Is there a meaning and a purpose to life?

Many have asked such a profound question, and yet, few have found the answer. Fortunately, I found the answer; however, few want it and most can’t hear or see it. Gurdjieff understood that man is a conditioned, programmed, automatic, biological, and robotic being. Those aren’t his exact words. He said that man is asleep and that he must wake up. What is he talking about? What is sleep and what is waking up? Being asleep means that our higher thinking mind, the intelligence, is in a dormant state. It doesn’t have the power to understand the body’s emotions and how clear are its ideas. You see, the understanding wants to improve itself. The understanding is part of the infinite understanding that is directed a part of nature’s intelligence.

The meaning and purpose of life is to awaken and connect with your higher intelligence and live from your understanding. This effort is beyond any physical effort that man pursues in his physical adventure state. Man is motivated to impress and to be glorified. He is governed and directed by desires that are triggered by his 5 senses. He is unaware of this higher level of being, his awakened intelligence. Man, lives by his lower nature and this is why he will never find lasting happiness. He is consistently seeking things that stimulate him, and his pleasures and joy are temporary, never lasting.
