What Does It Mean To Be A Master of Oneself?

Gurdjieff, a 20th Century Mystic communicated the idea that we are asleep and that we are functioning like biological robotic beings without a true sense of self. The ego nature represents this robotic being which functions automatically without consciousness. Gurdjieff believed that it is possible to awaken another part of our mind, to become a “Master of Oneself,” which is living from a higher level of intelligence that is highly conscious of itself and the laws of nature. This being lives in the present and is directly connected to the source. It knows the laws that influence its nature. Yes, Gurdjieff points out the problems and about the difficulties of man and about man’s potential but isn’t very clear how to get there. Fortunately, Spinoza, a 17th century philosopher, explains in his Ethics specific keys on how to awaken our intelligence and live in truth and reality. Then it is possible to be fulfilled and our happiness will be permanent.
